An administration official told ABC News that Air Force Two struck two birds during landing at Santa Barbara Airport Thursday night between 10 and 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
The plane was able to land without further incident. Biden took a different U.S. Air Force plane and left Santa Barbara on schedule to head to Los Angeles for a private fundraising event on the Westside.
Air Force Two, a modified Boeing 757, was damaged by the bird strike, and it was unable to return to Washington, D.C. The plane was later seen under inspection on the airport tarmac.
A Delta flight from JFK Airport en route to LAX also suffered a bird strike Thursday afternoon, forcing an emergency landing. No one was injured in the incident.
