An Orange County judge has ruled that 70-year-old Sid Landau will get a trial to determine whether he should remain in a California mental hospital, where he has spent the last 12 years.
In 2010, a state doctor found Landau could be freed under supervision with no risk to the public because of his age.
Landau was convicted of molesting boys in the 1980s and was paroled in 1996. He was one of the first sex offenders targeted in California following the passage of Megan's Law.
