The state of California reached a settlement with the accounting firm involved in the Bell City Council scandal.

The Los Angeles Times reports the firm Mayer Hoffman McCann must pay a $300,000 fine and $50,000 for the investigation.

The state claims the firm failed to notice the accounting irregularities that led to money problems and the corruption scandal in Bell. Several former Bell leaders are facing public corruption charges.
