The incident happened on the 1900 block of Mosher Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the woman's pit bull was also wounded in the shooting. There was no word on the dog's condition.
Witnesses said they saw a man running away from the scene, but authorities have not yet arrested anyone.
Investigators think the shooter may have been aiming at the dog and not targeting the woman.
