The shooting happened shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday on the 19300 block of Welby Way.
Authorities said they received a call about an ongoing roommate dispute. When police arrived, a man pointed a gun at an officer.
The officer opened fire, injuring the suspect. He was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.
The officer and the suspect's roommate were not injured.
