Aimee Copeland, girl who survived flesh-eating infection, to appear on 'Katie'

NEW YORK

Copeland contracted the infection in May after gashing her leg during a zipline accident. As a result, her hands, left leg and right foot were amputated.

The 24-year-old grad student will speak to Couric about surviving the ordeal and her recovery. Copeland began rehabilitation after leaving the hospital last month. She now has prosthetics, which she will use to walk on-stage.

The episode will air Sept. 11, just one day after "Katie" premieres. Guests slated for the first episode include Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow.
