Bakersfield man lures LA, OC women for theft, sexual battery

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.

Authorities say 45-year old Anthony Augustus Jefferson would lure the women to Bakersfield to interview and audition them though Internet ads for jobs as a personal assistant, model or actress. He would meet the victims in restaurants or hotels and convince them to use their own credit cards, saying they would be reimbursed.

In two cases, police say Jefferson persuaded the victims to perform sex acts as part of an audition.

The victims were from Beverly Hills, Hollywood, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Westlake, West L.A. and the city of Orange.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jefferson for charges including sexual battery by false pretense, false impersonation and indecent exposure. His last known address was where the crimes allegedly occurred in Bakersfield, but the suspect has previously lived in West L.A.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
