Diamond Bar bust nets $2.5M in marijuana

DIAMOND BAR, Calif.

The raid happened on Wednesday while deputies were serving a search warrant at a house on the 21000 block of Malad Court.

Deputies discovered nearly 1,000 marijuana plants, which amounts to approximately $2.5 million in street value. In addition to the marijuana, investigators learned that electricity was being stolen from Southern California Edison at the Malad Court location. SCE said the estimated total loss is about $5,000.

Investigators say the bust is connected to several others from last week. So far, two people have been arrested: Binh Ly, 43, of Rosemead and Thanh Chiem, 45, of San Jose were arrested in connection with last week's bust, which netted about 2,000 marijuana plants.

Authorities believe Ly and Chiem are behind both marijuana grow operations.

If you have any information that can help investigators, you're urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Bureau at (562) 623-3590.
