Carole King receives Hollywood Walk of Fame star

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES

King's career has lasted more than 50 years. She produced hits such as "You've Got a Friend" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman."

"I never dreamed that I would have a star on the Walk of Fame," King said at a ceremony across the street from the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

In 1971, King released the album, "Tapestry," which sold more than 25 million copies. More than 400 of King's songs have been recorded by more than 1,000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles.

Colleagues will help pay tribute to King Tuesday night at an event at the Dolby Theatre. It will serve as a benefit for Paul Newman's The Painted Turtle camp.
