Suspect fatally shot by Jurupa Valley officers

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif.

Jurupa Valley police officers responded to a report of a man shooting at an occupied residence on the 8000 block of 45th Street at about 3:16 p.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Arriving officers found the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. Another officer broadcast that the suspect vehicle was in the area driving at a high rate of speed. Officers returning to their patrol cars to begin searching saw the suspect vehicle round the corner and accelerate toward them.

An officer-involved shooting followed. The male suspect died at the scene. He was not immediately identified.

No one else was injured.

Investigators from the Jurupa Valley Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation, according to the department.

The involved officers were uninjured and per department policy were placed on paid administrative leave.

The investigation was ongoing.
