Man dies after Fountain Valley crash at Tutoring Club

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.

Friends, family and co-workers got together Wednesday night to remember Alex Martinez, who worked and volunteered at The Tutoring Club that became the target of the runway car.

A driver lost control of his Buick on Monday, and it plowed into the building, injuring six people, including Martinez, a 20-year-old man, a 67-year-old woman and two 15-year-old boys.

The driver, 76-year-old Peter Hauk of Huntington Beach, told investigators he thought he'd put his car into reverse.

The force of the crash was so strong that the car reached the back of the building. The Tutoring Club was in session when the crash happened.

The cause of the accident has not been determined. Anyone with information is urged to call the Fountain Valley Police Traffic Bureau at (714) 593-4481.
