Simi Valley vandals strike custodian, steal school vehicle

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.

Simi Valley police said an employee of the Simi Valley Unified School District arrived at Santa Susana Elementary School to clean a classroom at about 7:35 p.m. Monday.

The employee found two Hispanic male juveniles vandalizing the classroom. One juvenile struck the employee in the face and the two fled, leaving in the employee's work vehicle, a Ford van with school district markings.

The unoccupied van was later located.

A Simi Valley police officer observed two juveniles matching the suspects' descriptions behind a Tapo Street business at 8:25 p.m. The juveniles were arrested and booked into juvenile hall on charges of robbery, carjacking, burglary, felony vandalism and criminal-gang participation; one of the suspects was also charged with possession of a dagger, possession of a weapon on school grounds and possession of marijuana.
