Brandon Spencer was found guilty of the shooting that left four people injured at a Halloween party in 2012. Prosecutors say Spencer was targeting a rival gang member when he shot at the crowd.
The defense maintained it was a case of mistaken identity, with Spencer's father contending his son was prosecuted in a rush to judgment to satisfy the University of Southern California and its donors.
Spencer responded angrily to the conviction Tuesday, turning over a chair and demanding deputies shoot him.
Spencer is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 21. He faces the possibility of life in prison.
