Huntington Beach police use K9 to arrest suspect

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.

Police were investigating reports of a shooting near Slater Avenue and Beach Boulevard when officers spotted a pickup truck speeding away from the area. That's when officers attempted to pull over the driver, but he refused to stop.

The suspect then crashed his vehicle near the entrance of the southbound 405 Freeway and Warner Avenue.

The suspect attempted to hide by running into nearby bushes. Officers then sent in a K9 unit and fired pepper balls where they thought he was hiding.

The dog found the suspect. He screamed which alerted officers to his location.

The suspect was arrested for narcotics and resisting arrest.
