2 South LA fires may be connected, police say

Investigators are trying to figure out if two suspicious fires that were started Thursday in South Los Angeles are connected, police said.

The fire department responded to a call just before 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of West 60th Street and South Western Avenue, where they found two cars on fire. Two men were seen fleeing the area, according to a 911 call.

Shortly after, another fire was started nearby in trees near the intersection of Slauson and Western avenues. Both fires were quickly put out.

Los Angeles police are searching for possible suspects.
