Man killed in drive-by shooting in Artesia

ARTESIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man in his 30s was killed in a drive-by shooting near his home in Artesia Sunday night, police said.

The shooting occurred in the 11800 block of Ashworth Street around 7:40 p.m.

Responding sheriff's deputies found the victim lying on the driveway of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Lakewood Sheriff's Station detectives believe the incident is gang related. The victim's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available.
