Man shot and killed in Bellflower; homicide investigation underway

BELLFLOWER, Calif. (KABC) -- A homicide investigation was underway after a man was shot and killed Sunday evening in Bellflower, authorities said.

Little information was immediately available about the shooting, which took place about 10:30 p.m. in the 17400 block of Virginia Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was found lying in the street and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff's detectives responded to the location, in a mixed commercial and residential area.

Coroner's officials removed the body from the scene early Monday morning. The deceased man's name was not released.
