Chris Brown pleads guilty in DC case, sentenced to time served

WASHINGTON (KABC) -- Singer Chris Brown on Tuesday pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge in Washington D.C. and was sentenced to time served.

The 25-year-old R&B singer spent two days in a District of Columbia jail in this case.

Brown was arrested in October after a man accused the singer of hitting him when he tried to get in a photograph Brown was taking with two women outside a Washington hotel. At the time, Brown was on probation for the 2009 attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna in Los Angeles.

"As Chris Brown himself has now finally acknowledged, he punched a man in the face without provocation in the District of Columbia," said U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. "No matter your status or celebrity, you will be held accountable for such conduct in our city."

Brown had previously pleaded not guilty in the case. His trial had been set for April, but it was delayed. Brown's bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, was also charged in the Washington case outside the W Hotel. Hollosy was convicted of misdemeanor assault in April but has not been sentenced.
