LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 67-year-old woman who is on the FBI's "Most Wanted Terrorists" list could be coming back to America.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie outlined an extradition request for Joanne Deborah Chesimard, who was convicted of killing a state trooper in 1973. She is a former Black Panther Party member.
At the time of the officer's murder, Chesimard was also wanted for her involvement in several other felonies, including bank robbery. She was convicted of the murder in 1977. She escaped from prison in Clinton, New Jersey in 1979 and fled to Cuba, where she was granted asylum. She is said to be living under the name Assata Shakur.
Chesimard is the first woman to be placed on the list and the FBI is offering a $1 million reward for direct information that can lead to her arrest. She is also the aunt of deceased rapper Tupac Shakur.
