COSTA RICA (KABC) -- Costa Rica's Turrialba Volcano erupted, and the spectacular blast was caught on video.
The eruption occurred during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The event was caught on camera by an observatory that monitors volcanic and seismic activity in Costa Rica.
Thermal images show the roiling blast in fuchsia and yellow.
By dawn, the ash cloud had been carried away by the winds and there was no remaining visible evidence of the explosion.
