THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- A deceased LAPD officer was found in a Thousand Oaks residence hours after a domestic-disturbance call. The officer was identified as an active member of a San Fernando Valley division.

A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on the 3100 block of Apache Circle in Thousand Oaks at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Thousand Oaks Police.

A female victim inside was able to get out of the location fairly quickly, according to police. A male subject remained inside.

Ventura County Sheriff's deputies were unable to make contact with the man.

Deputies were able to enter the house at about 6:30 p.m., whereupon they found the man dead of an apparent suicide.

No other injuries were reported.

There were no evacuations and there was no threat to the public or law enforcement.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck was at the scene Tuesday night.
