A series of altars set up in downtown LA's Grand Park honor deceased loved ones for the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos.

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- From modern to traditional, a series of altars are on display in downtown LA's Grand Park for the centuries-old Mexican tradition Dia de los Muertos.

The Day of the Dead is for honoring loved ones who have passed. The tradition involves building altars, often adorned with artwork, candles and photos of the deceased.

"You're honoring the people that you love," said Hilda Esqueda of Los Angeles. "The people that you cherish and they're gone and they're no longer here."
