NEW YORK (KABC) -- The new year means new resolutions, and for many people, that goal can be slimming down. U.S. News and World Report is out with its list of 2015's best diets.
The study evaluated 41 plans.
"We deliver the facts on whether diets are good for weight loss or whether they'll help prevent and manage diabetes," senior health editor Angela Haupt said. "Same for heart disease."
When it comes to dropping pounds, top honors went to reigning champ Weight Watchers, which uses a point system for all foods.
Number two for weight loss is a brand new diet on the list -- food delivery system Health Management Resources.
The easiest plans to follow are Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig and the Mediterranean Diet, focusing on lots of fruits, veggies and fish.
The top diet overall for for the fifth year in a row is the Dash Diet, which is all about portion control and balancing protein and carbs.
"When you're talking about what makes a good diet, it needs three things," ABC News medical contributor Dr. Jennifer Ashton said. "It needs to be safe, it needs to be simple and it needs to be sustainable."
