ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- Disneyland will look to make things easier for guests by moving one of its checkpoints so that downtown Disney will be inside its secured area.
Disneyland Resort said it hoped the change would simplify things for those visiting Disneyland and Disney California Adventure because it would allow guest visiting downtown Disney to return to either theme park without having to go through security again.
The bag check and metal detectors will be moved to the Mickey and Friends parking structure, allowing visitors to go through security before boarding the tram.
Two new checkpoints would also be added: one between ESPN Zone and Rainforest Cafe, and another between ESPN Zone and the Earl of Sandwich restaurant.
While some applauded the move, others said it may be an inconvenience for people who only want to visit downtown Disney because now they'll have to go through security.
The changes were scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.
Disney is the parent company of ABC7.
