HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- After appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Wednesday night, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump spoke one-on-one with Eyewitness News.

Earlier in the day, Trump rallied thousands in Anaheim at the convention center while protestors and supporters clashed outside. Several people were detained following the demonstrations.

Trump said he's going to be giving it a good try to win California.

On Tuesday, Trump held a rally in New Mexico which resulted in more violent protests and arrests.

"Well I feel badly. You know they're waving the Mexican flags and burning the American flags," he said.

Trump hosted his first major fundraiser in Santa Monica Wednesday night and spoke by phone with House Speaker Paul Ryan about a potential endorsement.

When asked about his plan to deport 11 million people who are in the country illegally, Trump simply said it would all work out.

He also addressed the biggest misconception people have of him.

"I think the biggest is people think, 'he's a tough guy, you know he does great in business and everything, but he's tough.' I have a lot of compassion for people. I have a lot of heart. I want to take care of people," he said.
