LOS ANGELES -- The second elimination from season 23 of "Dancing with the Stars" was announced Tuesday and the couple going home is: Rick Perry and Emma Slater.

The former Texas governor had scored just 23 out of 40 in his performance of the Paso Doble, tying him at the bottom with fellow Texan Vanilla Ice. But the rapper was granted immunity, leaving Perry's neck on the chopping block for the elimination show.

With six couples granted immunity on Monday, six were in jeopardy in the results show. At the end it came down to the final three: Amber Rose/Maksim Chmerkovskiy; Terra Jole/Sasha Farber and Rick/Emma.

After the elimination, Perry told host Tom Bergeron that he appeared on the show because he wanted to learn to dance for his daughter's upcoming wedding.

"My daughter's getting married the 15th of October, but I can promise you I will look good on the dance floor for you."

Rick and Emma were eliminated in faceoff week of "Dancing with the Stars."

He added he also joined the show to promote causes to help veterans, in particular a group he is involved with called Advance the Colors.
