LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The 2010 live-action film "Alice in Wonderland" is getting a sequel.

"Through the Looking Glass" is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016 and will star many of the same cast members, Walt Disney Studios announced Monday.

Johnny Depp will return as the Mad Hatter. Mia Wasikowska will play Alice Kingsley. Helena Bonham Carter dons the role of the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen.

New cast members include Sacha Baron Cohen from Borat, who will play "Time."

Director James Bobin, who directed "Muppets Most Wanted," will head the film, while previous director Tim Burton will serve as executive producer.

The original film grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
