Bobbi Kristina Brown's quality of life unknown

ATLANTA (KABC) -- Bobby Brown's lawyer has issued a statement clarifying remarks the singer made over the weekend about his 21-year-old daughter's condition.

On Saturday night, an emotional Bobby Brown told concertgoers in Texas that his daughter was "awake" and "watching" him.

In the statement, Brown's attorney, Christopher Brown, said that Bobbi Kristina has "improved" and doctors have indicated that she will have a long life, but "the quality of her life will not be known for years to come".

Alicia Etheredge-Brown said that her husband was in "an emotional state" when he spoke to the concert crowd, though he is encouraged that his daughter "has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard."

Bobbi Kristina was discovered in her bathtub in her Atlanta-area home on Jan. 31 and has been "fighting for her life" ever since. She was placed in a medically-induced coma and is now in a long-term care facility.

A source close to the family told ABC News that while Brown is no longer on a ventilator, she still has tracheostomy tube that helps her breathe.

"Nothing has changed since she got that months ago," the source added.

Bobbi Kristina is the only child of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston.
