'Dumbo' reunites Tim Burton with Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito
Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito reunited with director Tim Burton for the re-imagining of "Dumbo."

HOLLYWOOD (KABC) -- The story of "Dumbo" has been re-imagined for today's audiences. The 1941 version was an animated movie and ran just about an hour long. This new one is a live action, big-budget film, and with the latest computer technology that really brings our little hero to life.

Director Tim Burton assembled his cast with some familiar faces: Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito both starred in Burton's "Batman Returns" and say the mini-reunion is part of the fun.

"I didn't see the guy for, like, 20 years," said Burton regarding Keaton. "Honestly, it was truly surreal to kind of not see the guy for so long and then he'd come and it was like I'd seen him yesterday."

"I feel like people are going to love this film so much," said DeVito. "I love it. I was just blown away by what he (Burton) did. I'm really excited to be in the movie. You know how much I love Tim. You guys know this is my fifth movie with Tim."

And it's the second Tim Burton film for Eva Green. She loved arriving to an energetic, happy set every day. And, the role helped her get over her fear of heights.

"I can't believe I'm doing these things up in the air! I mean, like upside down swinging," said Green. "I thought I would vomit and, you know, it would be the end. I would die. But I survived. It was amazing."

"Dumbo" has its adorable moments, but it also has sad and scary scenes, too.

"Disney movies always mixed fear and darkness and light and loss and joy -- always in one package," said Burton. "And so that, for me, was the goal was to try to create the feeling of what I got from Disney movies long ago."

"Dumbo" is rated PG and in theaters March 29.
