LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The FBI's new assistant director in charge of the Los Angeles field office says she plans to focus on violent crime, public corruption and other concerns as she settles into her new post.
It's been a busy three months for Deirdre Fike. She took time to sit down and talk with Eyewitness News in an exclusive one-on-one interview.
Fike brings with her more than 27 years of experience as an FBI agent. Most recently, she served as special agent in charge of the Anchorage, Alaska, division.
Fike is the first woman ever to hold this top position in Los Angeles, replacing David Bowdich, who was transferred to FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. after overseeing several major cases, including the investigation into the San Bernardino terror shooting last December.
"So I always say I have big shoes to fill coming in here behind Dave Bowdich, and my biggest challenge is just being able to carry on the good work that he did here in the field office," she said.
