We all know what it's like to lovingly put together a home-cooked meal only to have our little ones shoot us a disgusted look and refuse to eat it. The weekly (or rather, daily) occurrence is frustrating -- we just want the kids to eat! But we have to admit sometimes they do say the darndest things. We're sure not alone in this. In fact, there's a whole Instagram account devoted to this very thing: My Kid Can't Eat This.

It encourages exasperated parents to use the hashtag #mykidcanteatthis to share their daily mealtime struggles - and the results are rather funny, quite a bit strange, and all too familiar. We've picked out some of our favorites as a reminder that we're all in this together. Here's hoping they learn to eat ... eventually.

My Kid Can't Eat This Because...

"...she's big enough now and if she got bigger it would be wrong..."

"...it has fork holes in it. He keeps saying it's sad while the new one I gave him is happy."

"...it has 'creeps' on it... (black pepper)."

"...the white strings of death are choking out his will to citrus."

"...the centers of the bagels are off limits. Only the outer edge is good. More bagel please."

"...the hot dogs aren't peeled."

"...unless it's covered in ketchup. Then magically green beans are his favorite."

"...it was on her plate and not mine..."

"...the flour on the bread makes her hands feel weird."

"...he loved it yesterday...why would he touch it today?"

"...mommy peeled it and he wanted it peeled by daddy."
