VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KABC) -- It's not often that construction noises bring peace to a neighborhood, but it's a welcome sound in the 15000 block of Wild Rose Street in Victorville.
The sounds mean that a house is finally being demolished, and it's a property that has been a nuisance in the neighborhood for five years. The home was a foreclosure, but parties and fires plagued the empty space.
"It's been a disaster. We've had teenagers burn it out twice," said Clois Germany, a resident in the neighborhood.
Neighbors said the bank that foreclosed on the home did nothing about the problems so the City of Victorville stepped in. The home is one of six vacant houses the city council has decided to tear down.
This home on Wild Rose Street is going to cost about $14,000 to clear out, but nearby residents said after what they have had to put up with that it is money well spent.
Another member of the Germany family, Deborah Germany, is also relieved to see the home removed.
"If I could dance right now, I would...[it's] a beautiful sight," she said.
