WEST HAVEN, Utah (KABC) -- A great horned owl is lucky to be alive after getting hit by a semi-truck in Utah and becoming stuck to its grill for hours.
The Weber County Sheriff's Office said the owl was struck by the tractor trailer on Interstate 15 and was unable to escape after its wing became wedged in the grill.
Deputies said the driver recalled hitting the owl sometime Saturday night, but didn't realize it was stuck until he stopped at a gas station near Salt Lake City the next morning.
Officials from the Department of Wildlife Resources came out and helped remove the owl from the grill.
The bird suffered a broken wing, but is expected to survive after rehabilitation.
