Veterans, families honor fallen heroes at Green Hills Memorial Park

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. (KABC) -- The 31st annual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony brought together many Southern California residents in Rancho Palos Verdes to honor the nation's fallen heroes on Memorial Day.

War veterans, as well as families and friends of former soldiers, gathered in large groups, with many in grief.

"Time erases the hurt but never the memory. Sometimes the hurt does comes back - on Memorial Day, it does," said Joseph Diggs, a U.S. Army Veteran.

The remembrance at Green Hills Memorial Park is believed to be the largest of all Memorial Day ceremonies in Southern California.
