STOCKTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Jeremy Meeks is the most wanted felon in Northern California -- at least with the ladies on Facebook.
Meeks' mug shot has gone viral on social media, attracting more than 78,000 "likes" and 22,000 comments since it was posted on the Stockton Police Department's Facebook page Wednesday evening.
The 30-year-old was one of four men arrested Wednesday during Weston Ranch Operation Ceasefire, a multiagency mission to curb a recent increase in shootings and robberies in the Stockton area.
Police say Meeks is one of the most violent criminals in the area. But that hasn't stopped women from commenting on his high cheek bones, blue eyes and chiseled features.
"If this guy broke into my house, I'd make him forget why he broke in within 30 seconds," one person wrote.
"I'd go 50 shades on that one. Oh, God, yes," wrote another.
Meeks was stunned by the reaction he received from the ladies.
"I just visited my wife, and she said that I like blew up all over Facebook," Meeks said, behind bars. "I appreciate that, but I just want them to know that this is really not me, like, I'm not some king pin."
Meeks says, even though he is being charged with street terrorism, he is no longer a gang member.
The Stockton Police Department can't help but notice what's happening online, and is reminding people that Meeks is a felon who's spent two years in prison for grand theft, a documented gang member, and was allegedly caught with a gun.
"They found a pistol in my trunk," Meeks admitted.
His bail was set at $1 million Friday afternoon, and he was appointed a public defender. His next court date is scheduled for June 27.
Meantime, his mother, who says he's a Christian now, is asking his admirers for money to pay for his defense.
