Thieves use fake horse trailer to steal gasoline
Riverside police are searching for suspects responsible for stealing 500 gallons of gasoline from a local gas station using a fake horse trailer.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Riverside police are asking for the public's help to identify suspects who stole hundreds of gallons of gasoline from a local gas station using a fake horse trailer.

Police say the incident happened around 4:45 a.m. on July 22 at the Weis Fuel gas station at 9407 Magnolia Ave.

According to investigators, a newer, white Ford F-150 SuperCrew 4-door, pulling a dark-colored horse trailer, pulled up to the gas station, stopping with the trailer over the tank filling hole.

Authorities say it appears the trailer is equipped with a false floor and interior pumping system that allowed the suspects, possibly a male and female, to steal about 500 gallons of gasoline.

"They're thieves. I don't know how to describe them. I mean, they're driving a truck better than my truck," said gas station owner Fred Sweis.

A witness told police the truck had some sort of alien sticker on the exterior.

Anyone with any information about the theft was asked to call the Riverside Police Department Investigations tip line at (951) 353-7261.
