IRVINE, Calif. -- A search is underway for a man who broke into a parked car in Irvine and may be linked to thefts on the UC Irvine campus.
Irvine police said the suspect smashed the front passenger window of a car parked at the Avenue One Apartments on Scholarship around 7:45 a.m. Sunday. Investigators believe the man stole several cables, a flashlight and batteries.
Authorities believe the man may have also been involved in thefts on the campus of University of California, Irvine.
The suspect was described as a possibly Caucasian male between 30 and 40 years old, with brown hair, brown eyes and a large moustache down to his chin.
At the time of the car break-in, police said the suspect was wearing black frame glasses, a red polo shirt with a "UCI" logo on the left chest, and jeans.
The suspect was seen driving a white 2004-2006 model Dodge Stratus with no license plates and damage to the front left bumper.
