Joan Rivers memorial service held in New York

NEW YORK (KABC) -- Friends and family gathered in a New York City temple to bid a final farewell to comedic legend Joan Rivers.

It was a star-studded event. Howard Stern delivered the eulogy, filled with raunchy jokes. Hugh Jackman delivered a performance. The New York City Gay Men's Chorus sang Broadway hits including "Hey Big Spender" before six-time Tony Award-winner McDonald sang her tribute to Rivers.

Fellow comedians Kathy Griffin, Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg were also in attendance. E! network "Fashion Police" colleague and friend Kelly Osbourne was also there, in addition to Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, and celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz.

Bagpipers from the NYPD played "New York, New York" on the street as mourners filed out.

Rivers' daughter, Melissa, spoke about how she respected her mother and appreciated everyone's support

The 81-year-old Rivers died Thursday after going into cardiac arrest during a routine procedure at a medical clinic.

The cause of death is being investigated. The New York state health department is investigating the circumstances, and the New York City medical examiner said tests to determine the cause of death were inconclusive.
