Geyser erupts after car crash shears top off Studio City fire hydrant

STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Water spewed into the night sky late Saturday after a two-car crash sheared off the top of a Studio City fire hydrant.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. on Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Dona Pegita Drive.

Authorities had to shut off overhanging power lines after they were initially concerned about the risk of electric shock.

They were eventually able to shut off the water and stop the late-night geyser.
