LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KABC) -- A driver was rescued from a fuel truck after colliding with an empty airplane at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday.

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, the fuel truck hit the empty American Airlines jet at Terminal 4. Forty firefighters responded to the scene. The fuel truck driver was trapped and had to be pulled from the truck.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known. The driver was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Los Angeles World Airports officials said it was not immediately known if the accident impacted airport operations.

The crash did not cause a fire or a significant fuel leak.
