LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie channel Tarzan and Jane in the upcoming film, "Legend of Tarzan," opening in theaters this Friday.
In a story about greed, revenge and murder, Robbie is excited to portray Tarzan and Jane's deep connection.
"They have a really solid marriage. They have been married and have known each other since they were teenagers. So, yeah and we had a short amount of time to convey all that history of their relationship before we're torn apart in the film," Robbie said.
Skarsgard is especially excited for his father, Oscar-nominated actor Stellan Skarsgard, to see the film.
"We're going to go to Stockholm in two weeks, where my dad lives, and have a premiere there, and I'm incredibly excited and nervous. I can't wait ... to sit next to my old man who has been a fan of Tarzan since he was six," Skarsgard said.
Skarsgard said that filming the movie in England included the biggest movie set that he's ever seen. Most of the animals were computer-generated.
"Once I saw the finished product of the film, it definitely surpassed my expectations, and I was kind of hoping that I'd done some reactions a little bigger because I had no idea how amazing it would end up looking on screen," Robbie said.
Despite all of the running, jumping and swinging Skarsgard did for the film, he said that there were no major injuries, just "some bruises and bumps and bruises and scratches and stuff like that."
"Legend of Tarzan" to swing into theaters with rich storyline and modern feel
