LEIMERT PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman was hospitalized in stable condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver near Leimert Park early Sunday morning.

Authorities received a call around 1:45 a.m. reporting a pedestrian being struck by a car at 48th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard.

According to witnesses, the woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a car heading eastbound on 48th Street. She was not in the crosswalk at the time of the collision. She suffered abrasions to the back of her head and arms.

An investigation is ongoing and it is unclear if street racing may have been a factor.
