Across California, voters are heading to the polls to make their voices heard and with more than 6.7 million ballots already returned, turnout is expected to be strong.

Voters in the Bay Area, both for and against Prop 50 spoke on how they feel about the only question on the ballot.

"I can't believe we are voting on this, to be honest with you," said Jack Freethy, who is against Prop 50. "Our state legislature is out of control. That probably answers how I feel.

"I did read the review by Common Cause, and it was very impressive, they took a case all the way up to the Supreme Court," said Michael Rouppet, who supports Prop 50. "They appealed to the nation's institutions, and those institutions failed voters. So I think that in my conscious, I support Prop 50 with that in mind."

President Donald Trump and Gov. Gavin Newsom are squaring off ahead of the Prop 50 vote.

In a Truth Social post, the president said it is a "GIANT SCAM."

Trump went on to say that mail-in ballots in California are "under very serious legal and criminal review."

Shortly after, Newsom posted Trump's post on X, saying "The ramblings of an old man that knows he's about to LOSE."

The redistricting battle began when President Donald Trump asked Republican states, like Texas, to do exactly that.

In response, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a plan to bolster Democrats, which led to a special election being called and Prop 50 being placed on the ballot.

Leading up to today's election, there have been concerns ICE agents could be deployed to polling places.

Gov. Newsom recently warned it could happen amid the immigration raids. At this point, however, there's no evidence immigration enforcement officers will be at voting centers.

There are several federal and state laws that prohibit armed officials near vote center, including a Civil War-era law making it a felony for any federal official to send troops or armed persons to a polling place.

It's Election Day and polls are now open across California!

Vote centers will be open until 8 p.m. today.

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than today and arrive at your county registrar's officer by Nov. 12.
