Power shutoffs in evacuated areas will remain until Jan. 15

Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone shared an update on Sunday for residents of evacuated areas, saying conversations about lifting the mandate will not begin until after the red flag warning is lifted on Wednesday.

"I ask all Los Angeles County residents in the wildfire-prone areas to understand that the necessary public safety power shutoffs are important for our collective fire safety in preventing the next wildfire natural disaster," Marrone said.

LA County is under a red flag warning until 6 p.m. on Jan. 15, according to the National Weather Service.

Choir keeps rehearsing after wildfire destroys longtime meeting place

A Los Angeles-area choir is rising from the ashes of the Eaton Fire.

The Pasadena Chorale, a blended group of people of different walks of faith, typically meets in the historic Altadena Community Church.

The Pasadena Chorale is meeting at the Church of the Brethren in La Verne after the Eaton Fire destroyed the Altadena Community Church.

That historic church, which has been their meeting spot since 2009, was destroyed in the violent Eaton Fire.

Tragically, many in this choir not only lost this special venue but also their homes. Many are displaced and staying with friends or are living in fear on the edge of an evacuation zone.

What they haven't lost is their community love and dedication to uniting in song to lift one another up.

The choir is continuing to meet at the Church of the Brethren in La Verne.
