Cleanup efforts underway across Southern California ahead of another storm

Efforts are underway across Southern California to clean up downed trees, flooding and rockslides after days of rain, and the rush is on to get it all done before the next storm moves in.

Conditions will dry up somewhat for the next few days, but more rain is on the way to the region this week.

A chance for spotty, light showers will stick around Tuesday morning and afternoon.

Wednesday is expected to be mostly dry before another system arrives and brings even more showers between Thursday and Friday.

Forecasters said that system could drop another quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rain.

Heavy rain has started to fall in some parts of Southern California as subtropical moisture moves through the region.

Heavy rain has started to fall in some parts of Southern California as subtropical moisture moves through the region, threatening to bring flooding and possible mudslides to areas burned by wildfires.

The heaviest of the rain is expected overnight through Saturday afternoon, though the wet weather will last through the weekend and possibly into next week when a third, though much lighter, storm arrives on Monday.

Areas impacted by recent wildfires, such as Altadena and Pacific Palisades, are estimated to get more than 2.5 inches of rain by Saturday night.

A Flash Flood Watch is in place for the entire region from Saturday at 1 a.m. through Saturday at 10 p.m.

A boulder tumbled down a hillside, seriously damaging an SUV near Ojai as rain came down in Ventura County on Friday.

A photo from an Eyewitness News view shows the back window of the Jeep Grand Cherokee completely smashed in.

The viewer said he was taking his daughter to school in Matilija Canyon when a boulder came flying off the side of the mountain and hit his Jeep.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Ventura County fire officials said there were some small rocks along Highway 33 on Friday, but not enough to cause any problems.

The fire department said it's expecting anywhere from 3/4 of an inch to 2 inches of rain in the first storm.

Airport Fire burn scar area under evacuation warning

An evacuation warning was issued for the Airport Fire burn scar area Friday.

The voluntary evacuation warning went into effect at 4 p.m. and was issued by the Orange County Sheriff's Department due to potential flooding and debris flows.

Those in the following areas fall under the voluntary evacuation warning:
-Trabuco Creek, including the RC Airport, campground, and school
-Bell Canyon, including Starr Ranch
-Hot Springs Canyon, including Lazy-W Ranch

The American Red Cross will open a congregate (dormitory-style) shelter location for evacuated residents of the Canyons at 7 p.m.

The shelter will be located at the Foothill Ranch Library Program Annex, directly adjacent to the Foothill Ranch Library located at 27002 Cabriole Way in Foothill Ranch.

Tesla driver loses control amid heavy rain on 405 Fwy in the Sepulveda Pass

The rain has made for dangerous driving Friday.

Dash cam video from one of ABC7's news vans caught the moment the driver of a Tesla lost control during a period of heavy rain.

The incident happened Friday morning on the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda pass.

Video shows the car sliding across traffic. Luckily, the Tesla was not hit by other vehicles when it finally stopped on the shoulder.
