LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A jury found a 23-year-old Oklahoma man guilty Friday in the shooting deaths of a mother and her child in Long Beach in 2016.
Brandon Ivan Colbert was convicted on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder with two special circumstance enhancements.
Prosecutors said Colbert hid behind a sign and waited for 26-year-old Carina Mancera, her 4-year-old daughter Jennabel Anaya and her child's father, Luis Anaya on Aug. 6, 2016.
When the family returned to their home, Colbert opened fire on the three with a shotgun, killing Mancera and 4-year-old Jennabel. Luis Anaya survived the shooting.
Colbert is set to be sentenced Feb. 2 in Long Beach. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
