LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was shot and a woman was injured by shattered glass after a suspect opened fire near a Subway in Los Angeles.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. in the 8500 block of Venice Boulevard. Authorities said a man in his 20s who was wearing a black hoodie opened fire and shot a man.

The man, who is between 30 and 40 years old, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Witness Bernie Calderon said the suspect shot at people at a liquor store in the strip mall.

"Apparently, one person got shot three times and was taken to the hospital. Then as the guy was fleeing, he looked at the Subway and there was people there and they were all looking, right? He shot at the Subway, too," he said.

The bullets shattered a window at the Subway, and the glass injured a 35-year-old woman who was there with her children. Authorities said she was not seriously injured and only suffered minor cuts.

The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The investigation was ongoing.
