Millersville University student found dead in dorm room

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Officials say a female student was found dead in her dorm room at Millersville University on Sunday.

University spokeswoman Janet Kacskos said the student was pronounced dead early Sunday by the Lancaster County coroner's office.

She said the student's parents and siblings have been notified, but relatives asked that the name not be released until they could inform extended family.

Action News has learned that the student was a freshman. Police say there is no threat to the campus community.

The cause of death is under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled Monday.

Officials said university counseling staff will be available on campus to talk to students who need assistance.
