New Miss California crowned, to compete for Miss America in fall

FRESNO, Calif. -- A local titleholder is beginning her reign as the new Miss California.

Miss Yosemite Valley Jillian Smith was crowned at the Saroyan Theatre Saturday. The new Miss California is from Grass Valley and is currently a student at Cal Poly.

She'll compete in Atlantic City for the title of Miss America this September.
