2 Venice kids missing since Saturday found safe

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two juveniles who were reported missing over the weekend were found Monday night and appeared to be in good condition, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Detectives were interviewing 14-year-old Timothy Jacob Reed and his girlfriend, 12-year-old Ashley Montes, who had been missing since Saturday afternoon. The pair appeared at the young girl's home in Venice.

The parents of the two Mark Twain Middle School students had broken their silence Monday and made desperate pleas for help to find their kids.

The two kids were last seen near Mark Twain Middle School in Venice reportedly while en route to Venice Beach.

"Tim, we just want you to come home, and we hope you're safe out there and we love you," said Ryan Clark, Reed's stepfather.

Ashley Montes, 12, and Timothy Jacob Reed, 14, are shown above in undated photos.

The pair's disappearance was the hot subject at school Monday morning as Reed's parents handed out flyers with their missing son's photo on it.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Reed and Montes met at school Saturday afternoon to head to the beach. Clark says his son normally takes a bus from their Venice home to hang out with friends near the school.

"That was a normal routine for him on the weekend to come out this way and hang out and he always came home, always, and if he wanted to stay longer he would always call or text," Clark said.

Reed and Montes' phones had been off since about 4 p.m. Saturday.

"We keep calling, we keep texting, but their phones have both been off," Clark said.

"I call her many times and she don't answer the phone anymore," said Cecilia Sanchez, Montes' mother. "I think she knows everybody is looking for her and they get scared to show, you know, but I told her nothing is going to happen to them. We just want to see them safe."
